Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 15: Rajiv Mahajan Convenor, United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Jammu and Kashmir, has asked the central government and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to convert Hotel Ashok in Jammu into COVID-19 care centres.
He said that Hotel Ashok, the oldest hotel in the heart of Jammu city, closed its operation here on June 19 after India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the current owner of the hotel, ceased operations and put out a closure notice on the entry point.
“Hotel Ashok was built on the land leased out by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) in 1970 for a period of 40 years,” he said adding that there is dire need to make quarantine centres for COVID-19 patients who are on rise day by day in Jammu region.
As many hospitals and already established quarantine centres are full of patients and government should convert more quarantine centres for patients to cater their needs. He said since the hotel Jammu Ashok is close its operation therefore the government should convert it into a quarantine centre.
