Shiv Sena warns step motherly treatment with Punjabi

Jammu, Sept 15: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray Jammu and Kashmir unit has warned of a major agitation and hunger strike demanding inclusion of Punjabi in the official languages of Jammu and Kashmir.
Taking cognisance of the issue the State President Manish Sahni said for the last 73 years Sikhs have been ignored by different governments and BJP is moving on same track.
“We were hopeful a different State would emerge post 370 but unfortunately nothing has changed. Sahni reminded that there are 5 lac Punjabi speaking people in J&K.
Where as in European and other countries Punjabi is 3rd or 4th official language and in J&K we are ousted”, Sahni said, adding that in 1941 punjabi was main language with Dogri and Urdu but BJP has changed the dimensions today.
Sahni urged Government not to forget the contribution of Sikhs as this community of J&K has given 2 Army Chiefs to the nation.
Their contribution in economy of State is indispensable.
Sahni reminded government that J&k had been ruled by Maharaja Ranjit Singh who had been rated as 10 greatest all time rulers of the world and Punjabi was official language during that period and its exclusion is a direct attack on Sikh culture, religion and their heritage.
On this occasion President mehila wing Meenakshi Chibber working President Ashwini Gupta, Gen Secretary Vikas Bakshi , Secretary Raj Singh, President Reasi Bhuri Singh, Rajesh Handa , Geeta Rani were present.
