Jammu Cyber Police saves complainant of loot by online fraudsters

Jammu, Sept 16: The Cyber Police of Jammu on Wednesday saved the hard-earned money of a complainant from being looted by online fraudsters.
The police spokesman here said that a complaint was lodged at Cyber Police Station Jammu of Bank fraud by one Monika Sharma of Sunderbani, district Rajouri in which she was defrauded with an amount of Rs 50,033/-.
She further stated that Fraudsters approach her telephonically and fraudulently obtained the important bank credentials including OTP on the pretext of unblocking the blocked ATM card.
The spokesman said that team of Cyber Police Station Jammu dealing with financial fraud cases headed by Inspector Manoj Kumar Gupta was activated and transactions were scrutinized to find out outflow route of transactions where money was finally used by the fraudsters.
Scrutiny of the transactions revealed that the amount was exhausted by fraudsters for online shopping in Tata Cliq online shopping platform and partial amount in Airtel Money wallet, he said.
The matter was instantly taken up with Tata Cliq and Airtel money in which money was credited to block all these suspected transactions and to refund the defrauded money to the victim account, he said and added that the defrauded amount was finally refunded back in the account of the complainant.
Cyber Police Station Jammu saved complainant’s hard-earned money with instant action and succeeded in refunding the amount of Rs 49999/- from Tata Cliq wallet and Rs 34/- refunded by the Airtel money. Thus, a total of Rs 50033/- has been refunded to the Complainant, he added. SP Cyber Police Jammu, Naresh Singh have appeal to the general public to stay alert and vigilant against these online fraudsters.
