Early Times Report

REASI, Sept 16: Despite the fact that Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha is very keen to improve developmental scenario in rural areas a population of 600 is without a road in a tehsil of this district in Jammu division.
Residents of tehsil Pouni in Reasi district have been yearning for a road for years now and despite repeated reminders the people at helm have not taken any step in this regard.
These people who reside in ward number 9 of Kothian Sudheen Panchayat have been running from pillar to post so that their demand is met but the same has not happened so far.
The local Sarpanch Neelam Kumari Sharma submitted a resolution pertaining to this demand to Public Works Department (PWD).
The PWD passed on the buck to the Rural Development Department (RDD) with the latter doing some work but not up to the mark and expectations of the people.
The locals said that a woman passed away few days back since she could not get the treatment on time.
They said that had the road been there the woman could have been shifted to the hospital where her life could have been saved.
“Since the government is very keen to show good results of the Back to Village programme it is high time that the work on the road is included in such programme. We also appeal the Editor in Chief of Early Times Munish Gupta to help us in this regard so that we are absolved of all the problems,” said residents.
Chief Engineer PWD Jammu, Ashok Kikloo said that a team would be deputed to the village and that department would develop the road since the officers are public servants.
The Chief Engineer assured that the road would be developed and people would heave a sigh of relief.
