CRPF officer kills terrorist in Srinagar encounter after being shot twice
9/17/2020 11:12:36 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 17: Three terrorists were gunned down in an encounter in Kashmir’s Batmaloo area on Thursday morning.
The encounter broke out between a joint team of the CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police and terrorists around 3 am on Thursday after security agencies received an intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists in Firdousabad at Batmaloo.
The joint party zeroed in on the target house early Thursday morning and upon finding the gate closed, a component of CRPF under command of Deputy Commandant, CRPF, Rahul Mathur scaled the wall and made entry into the house.
Deputy Commandant Rahul Mathur searched the rooms of the house, one of the terrorists, who was hiding inside, suddenly opened fire on the party, CRPF said.
Deputy Commandant Rahul Mathur sustained two bullet injuries in the encounter in Srinagar.
Rahul Mathur received gunshot wound on his upper chest and abdomen. He retaliated and gunned down the terrorist on the spot.
The injured officer was evacuated to the Army hospital in Srinagar, where he is in a critical condition.
Lauding bravery of the officer, CRPF DG AP Maheshwari said, “Deputy Commandant Rahul Mathur showed exemplary courage but sustained two bullets. He has been taken to 92 BH and is being treated.”
Meanwhile, the operation continued and the target house was cordoned off as the firing paused for some time due to darkness.
At first light, under supervision of senior officers on the spot, the joint room intervention teams of the CRPF and JKP resumed the search and in the ensuing exchange of fire, two more terrorists were neutralised by the joint forces. War-like stores were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists.
