Stray animals big nuisance in Kishtwar, MC acts like mute spectator

KISHTWAR, Sept 17: Calling upon District Administration and officials of Municipal Council Kishtwar to take measures to check the growing menace of stray ani mals and dogs, the inhabitants of Kishtwar said that "Stray animals have made the life of commoners a hell in Kishtwar town", adding that whole town of Kishtwar is flooded with stray animals which has become a matter of serious concern for the general public especially for the pedestrians as these animals can not only cause accidents as they are seen wandering on the main road right from Kuleed chowk to Malipath while at the same time these animals are also mostly seen around open dustbins along roadside disturbing and spreading the garbage on roads and outside these dustbins installed by the Municipality for dumping of the household garbage which could be more hazardous at the time when COVID 19 in Kishtwar District has already enter the community transmission phase. President Public Awareness Front Kishtwar Shakir Saddiqui speaking to Early Times exhibits great concern over negligence of Municipal Committee for their failure to look at and to curb the menace of street Animals that "have invaded every lane of the town and have become a nuisance for the inhabitants". Shakir Saddiqui said that Municipal Committee of Kishtwar has fail on all fronts added that wondering animals including cows, oxes andStray dogs have unleashed terror in various parts of district Kishtwar with the local municipality officials confessing that the rodent invasion is not only "causing nuisance" to the local people and commuters but has even created havoc in the areas of Kishtwar. “We do not have an estimate on the number of stray dogs in the town but are very sure that their population is rising by the day” said the locals added that street dogs have now even become the threat for morning and evening walkers in Kishtwar town.
Mostly, the bulk of dogs are found near the meat and chicken shops where vendors feed them.
The people urged upon the District Administration Kishtwar including Municipality officials to look into the matter and save the people from the dangerous stray dogs as well as from stray animals who are blocking traffic movement beside made an appeal to the President MC Kishtwar to direct the officials to come out of hibernation and work for general public.
