JAMMU, Sept 17: In connection with Jan Abhiyan/ Awami Muhim, the department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs FCS&CA today organised a felicitation programme for the fair price dealers of Bishnah and Arnia tehsils.
Director FCS&CA, Jatinder Singh presented certificates of appreciation to the best performing dealers who efficiently distributed food grains to the needy people during the lockdown period. He highlighted the important role being played by Fair Price Shop dealers of the department during COVID pandemic.
Singh highlighted the achievements under Aadhaar Seeding and online POS transactions being made by the dealers and also underlined the role of the two parameters for bringing in efficiency and transparency in the Public Distribution System.
He said the Department is running two major Centrally Sponsored Schemes to mitigate the effects of Corona pandemic lockdown.
“First one is Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalayan Anna Yojna which was initially launched for the period from April-June 2020 and later extended till November 2020,” he informed and added that the scheme has benefited 31,23021 individuals and 774813 families in Jammu division.
The second major scheme is Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan which benefited around 165404 migrant individuals and 51654 migrant stranded families from other states in Jammu division alone, he added. “These two schemes were in addition to the normal distribution of food grains being made under the National Food Security Act” he informed.
The dealers also appreciated redressing of their long pending demand of release of backlog commission charges by the department.
Assistant Director Jammu Rural-2, Vipan Bhagat, TSOs of Arnia, Bishnah besides other officials were also present on the occasion.
