SRINAGAR, Sept 17: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a surge in Corona Virus cases as 1467 fresh cases of virus were reported today. With today’s cases the number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 59,711. The death toll reached 951 with 19 fresh deaths.
Srinagar district reported 233 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 210 cases, Doda district 97 cases, Budgam district 89 cases, Rajouri district 88 cases, Udhampur district 82 cases, Anantnag district 78 cases, Ganderbal, Kathua & Poonch districts 75 cases each, Samba district 69 cases, Bandipora district 55 cases, Baramulla district 53 cases, Kupwara district 47 cases, Kishtwar district 44 cases, Pulwama district 28 cases, Reasi district 27 cases, Ramban district 18 cases, Kulgam district 14 cases and Shopian 10 cases.
Jammu district reported 11 fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district four deaths, and a death each in Kulgam, Udhampur, Reasi & Samba districts. So far 752 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir valley while as number of such deaths in Jammu division is 199.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1467 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 785 from Jammu division and 682 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 59,711. Also 19 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 14 from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 712 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 270 from Jammu Division and 442 from Kashmir Division.
Out of 59,711 positive cases, 20,239 are active positive, 38,521 have recovered and 951 have died; 199 in Jammu division and 752 in Kashmir division. Out of 13, 20,240 test results available, 12, 60,529 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 35,846 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 30,027 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 20,239 in isolation and 65,260 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 19,369 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 12,400 positive cases, 2,024 active positive, 10,116 recovered, 260 deaths; Budgam has 4,155 positive cases, 1,614 active positive, 2,467 recovered, 74 deaths; Baramulla has 3,662 positive cases, 1,067 active positive, 2,481 recovered, 114 deaths; Pulwama has 3,372 positive cases, 489 active positive, 2,821 recovered, 62 deaths; Anantnag has 3,091 positive cases, 786 active positive, 2,251 recovered, 54 deaths.
“Kupwara has 3,027 positive cases, 912 active positive, 2,055 recovered, 60 deaths; Bandipora has 3,018 positive cases, 1,015 active positive, 1,973 recovered, 30 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,366 positive cases, 573 active positive, 1,767 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,135 positive cases, 135 active positive, 1958 recovered, 42 deaths and Shopian has 1,902 positive cases, 169 active positive, 1,703 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 9,429 positive cases, 6,114 active positive, 3,198 recovered, 117 deaths; Rajouri has 1,861 positive cases, 965 active positive, 877 recovered, 19 deaths; Udhampur has 1,685 positive cases, 771 active positive, 906 recovered, eight deaths; Kathua has 1,577 positive cases, 600 active positive, 964 recovered, 13 deaths; Doda has 1,264 positive cases, 745 active positive, 504 recovered, 15 deaths.
“Samba has 1,243 positive cases, 600 active positive, 633 recovered, 10 deaths; Poonch has 1,162 positive cases, 724 active positive, 432 recovered, six deaths; Ramban has 922 positive cases, 252 active positive, 666 recovered, four deaths; Kishtwar has 757 positive cases, 390 active positive, 364 recovered, three deaths and Reasi has 683 positive cases, 294 active positive, 385 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 59,711 positive cases in J&K, 8,013 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
