SWD Director Gen listens to issues of PRI members at Kathua

KATHUA, Sept 19: Director General, Social Welfare Department, Rehana Batul today reviewed implementation of social security schemes in District Kathua and listened to issues of PRI members.
District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem, Sarpanches, Panchs and locals were also present.
At the outset, DG Rehana Batul listened to the issues of panchs, Sarpanchs and individuals, who called for clearance of pending pension cases on priority.
She directed the DSWO to take up all the issues and update the PRI members about steps for their redressal. She said Panchs Sarpanchs have a key role in addressing grassroots level public issues. She sought close liaison between field functionaries and PRI members to pave the way for achieving good governance goals.
The DG observed that with the active participation of all stakeholders polythene bags can be replaced by cotton or other biodegradable material bags. “This will be a great step towards Swatchhta Abhiyan at all Panchayat levels,” she added.
Earlier, the DSWO apprised about the implementation of Special Marriage Assistance scheme, Pre & Post Matric Scholarship scheme, PMAGY, Scholarship to Minority students, Motorized Scooter schemes besides pension to Widow, Old age and Differently abled persons in the District.
On the occasion, Cotton Carry bags made by trainees of various social welfare centers were given to sarpanches for further distribution among the people of their concerned Panchayats.
After the meeting DG also visited old age home Kathua and inquired about the well being of inmates there.
The Social welfare Centre at Village Sahar was also inspected by the visiting officer.
