Khari Fire incident: DDC assures relief to affected families

RAMBAN, Sept 19: Deputy Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan today met yesterday’s fire incident victims at Khari and assured them relief under SDRF.
The DDC was accompanied by the SDM Ramsu, Dil-Mir Chowdhary, ASP, Sanjay Parihar, Tehsildar, Ashok Chakerwarti, PRIs and various officers.
DC was informed by the Tehsildar that the fire incident happened last night near 10.30 PM in which 28 shops and one three story residential house were gutted.
He was further informed that all the residents and owners of shops were safely evacuated.
After receiving the information local administration swung into action and the Fire and Emergency Services department with the help of Army and Police controlled the fire after hectic efforts.
The DC also interacted with the affected families and took a firsthand assessment of the damage in this tragic incident.
He assured financial assistance under SDRF besides taking up the issue with UT administration for the rehabilitation of shopkeepers and other small business men.
He also interacted with the PRIs and locals and listened to their demands and grievances.
Responding to the demands, the DC directed the CMO to ensure adequate staff strength for smooth functioning of PHC Khari. He also directed the Fire and Emergency department to station a fire tender at Tehsil headquarter to deal with emergency situations.
Later, he visited the PHC to inspect the medicare facilities including, equipment, staff and assess its requirements. He sought details of requisite staff and equipment from the CMO.
