DC Rajouri inaugurates Inter zonal sports competition

RAJOURI, Sept 19: Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, on Saturday inaugurated two day Inter Zonal Sports competition for U-14,U-17and U-19 boys here at Mini Sports complex. The Sports tournament is being organised by the District Youth Services and Sports department.
As many as 260 players, of 09 zones of the district viz Rajouri, Thanamandi, Manjakote, Darhal, Doongi, Baljarana, Koteranka, Peeri and Khawas are going to participate in the tournament, Incharge District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mohammad Younis Lone informed.
He said that the sports competitions will be held in five games including Kho Kho, Volleyball, Cricket, Football and Badminton and the winning teams will play in the Inter District Tournament. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that the aim of conducting these sports competitions is to channelise the energy of the youth in a positive direction, enhance sportsmanship and boost their competitive skill.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the UT Government has sanctioned special funds under Back to Village programme Phase third for the development of sports infrastructure in every panchayat of the district. He informed that the sports stadium Kheora is complete in all respects and shall be inaugurated soon to start the sports related activities there.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the sports persons to follow all the SOPs guidelines while taking part in sports competitions to avoid COVID19 infection.
