9/20/2020 12:26:06 AM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 19: "Adherence to 137 demands of those involved in different business activities in Jammu and Kashmir, including travel, trade, tourism and transport, by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has come as a big relief.
Waiving of 50% electricity as well as water demand charges for industry and commercial units too, will help businessmen to cope up during this hard time of COVID-19 pandemic".
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri, who added that the decision reflects Government's sensitivity towards business community, which is facing difficulties due to ongoing pandemic.
Interest subvention of 5% for six months, partial waiver of fixed electricity charges for one year amounting to Rs 80 crore and waiver of water charges for six months costing Rs 25 crore are basic needs, which were projected by the business community.
Raman Suri further said that time bound One Time Settlements (OTS), capital infusion in accordance with the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, replacement of old vehicles and insurance support costing Rs 50 crore to the transporters as well as support to artists and others costing Rs 108.75 crore will go a long way in boasting the confidence of masses in the system. He said that special focus on helping youth and women entrepreneurs, space development for taxis and autos, issuance of building permission cases in time bound manner, online registration for transporters and hoteliers, extension of GST claims besides financial assistance to Bus drivers and cleaners is highly appreciable.
Raman Suri urged business community to take this package as a boon and also cooperate with the Government in dealing with the prevailing crisis. He said, whatever has come is a big relief and since Government too is constrained to levy taxes, this should be treated as a great help in days to come. Once things return to normal, we can expect more from the Government, he asserted.
