DSEJ hosts National Webinar on ‘Know Science Simply’

JAMMU, Sept 20: To acquaint the students/teachers with various Hands on Activities in Science with low cost no cost household materials and inculcate scientific temper among the children, Directorate of School Education Jammu organised a two-day National Webinar on ‘Know Science Simply’ in collaboration with National Council of Teacher scientists, APJAKNCYS units of Raman Science and Technology Foundation, Gujarat. Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta , was the chief guest at the inaugural session. In her inaugural address, Anuradha Gupta emphasised on the need of developing jigyasa(curiosity) among the students so that they may ask what and why of things happening around them. She said that teachers must develop critical thinking of the students. She added that the DSEJ was keen to add a session on Atal Tinkering lab as this concept will give clarity to both-teachers and students on how to make use of this for the best utilisation of resources available. She asked the teachers to realise the importance of science within us. Rajesh Mishra, science expert from U.P. and Raju Yadav science expert and Director APJ AKNCYS, U.P. conducted sessions on science by performing different activities and citing examples from our day today life on how we are using science. Jignesh chawada and Vipul Rathode explained the concept of Atal Tinkering Lab by showing different sections of the lab online to the viewers like mechanical tools station, electronic instruments, medical instruments sensors, etc so as to give firsthand knowledge to the participants. They also explained how students get inspired on seeing these and try their innovative ideas and come out with a new product.
After every session, there was a Question & Answer session in which massive participation was seen and the resource person handled the queries tactfully and quenched the thirst of inquisitive minds.
Kuldeep Gupta Director NCTS( J&K) moderated the webinar whereas Govind Sharma, Nodal officer Fit India Movement Jammu Division helped in its smooth conduct.
