COVID-19: Recovery rate dips in JK
16% less than national rate, total positive cases 63990, active positive 22032; 40957 recover, 1001 die

SRINAGAR, Sept 20: The national level recovery rate of COVID-19 is all set to touch 80 percent but in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir it is dipping on regular basis. As on date the recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir is 64 percent.
According to the official figures there are 63, 990 positive cases of Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir with the number of recovered being 40, 957. At the same time the death toll due to the virus crossed 1,000 as 14 more deaths were reported in past 24 hours with 1457 fresh cases being reported.
Jammu district reported 266 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 228 cases, Doda district 151 cases, Baramulla district 86 cases, Budgam district 78 cases, Rajouri district 76 cases, Ramban district 65 cases, Udhampur district 62 cases, Poonch district 60 cases, Ganderbal district 57 cases, Pulwama district 50 cases, Anantnag district 49 cases, Kathua district 46 cases, Kishtwar district 44 cases, Bandipora district 35 cases, Samba district 33 cases, Kupwara district 29 cases, Kulgam district 19 cases, Reasi district 14 cases and Shopian district nine cases.
Jammu district reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths each in Bandipora & Kishtwar districts and a death each in Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Rajouri, Udhampur, Kathua & Doda districts. So far 769 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu being 232.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,457 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 817 from Jammu division and 640 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 63,990. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; nine from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 692 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 312 from Jammu Division and 380 from Kashmir Division. Out of 63,990 positive cases, 22,032 are active positive, 40,957 have recovered and 1,001 have died; 232 in Jammu division and 769 in Kashmir division. Out of 13, 96,729 test results available, 13, 32,739 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 43,541 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 25,983 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 22,032 in isolation and 67,149 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 27,376 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 13,057 positive cases, 2,067 active positive, 10,726 recovered, 264 deaths; Budgam has 4,364 positive cases, 1,702 active positive, 2,586 recovered, 76 deaths; Baramulla has 3,844 positive cases, 1,121 active positive, 2,607 recovered, 116 deaths; Pulwama has 3,534 positive cases, 530 active positive, 2,941 recovered, 63 deaths; Anantnag has 3,252 positive cases, 839 active positive, 2,357 recovered, 56 deaths.
“Kupwara has 3,207 positive cases, 924 active positive, 2,222 recovered, 61 deaths; Bandipora has 3,155 positive cases, 1,048 active positive, 2,073 recovered, 34 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,560 positive cases, 649 active positive, 1,885 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,184 positive cases, 169 active positive, 1,972 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 1,930 positive cases, 169 active positive, 1,731 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 10,177 positive cases, 6,441 active positive, 3,602 recovered, 134 deaths; Rajouri has 2,086 positive cases, 1,158 active positive, 906 recovered, 22 deaths; Udhampur has 1,797 positive cases, 746 active positive, 1,041 recovered, 10 deaths; Kathua has 1,719 positive cases, 649 active positive, 1,055 recovered, 15 deaths; Doda has 1,686 positive cases, 1,088 active positive, 580 recovered, 18 deaths.
“Samba has 1,391 positive cases, 717 active positive, 664 recovered, 10 deaths; Poonch has 1,356 positive cases, 867 active positive, 481 recovered, eight deaths; Ramban has 1,077 positive cases, 366 active positive, 705 recovered, six deaths; Kishtwar has 874 positive cases, 453 active positive, 416 recovered, five deaths and Reasi has 740 positive cases, 329 active positive, 407 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 63,990 positive cases in J&K, 8,195 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
