Jat Mahasabha highlights long pending demands

Kathua, Sept 21: A meeting of All India Jat Mahasabha-J&K (AIJMS-J&K) chaired by the President Ch. Man Mohan Singh was held at Kathua. Various burning issues faced by the community were discussed with Jat leaders of Tehsil Kathua. The burning issues discussed in the meeting were OBC (Other backward Category) be given to Jats in line with other states. Displaced families of 1947,1965,1971 who are yet waiting for Relief compensation Rs 5.50 lakh be given immediately. The left over families awaiting Relief compensation are short of some of documents required and are suffering as they are unable to produce the documents which are lost by them due to passage of long time or burning/damaging of their homes and huts due to thundering, fire, rain, flood etc. Their illiteracy was is also one the reasons of losing their documents. Some of the couples of displaced families were issueless and have adopted a Son/Daughter of their nears and dears for their survival but having legal record other than the witnesses of local people or leaders like Punches and Sarpanches may also be included in the compensation list. Custodian land allotted to displaced families may be given the ownership right. Ch. Man Mohan Singh requested the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to frame a high level committee to settle all the pending issues of Displaced persons and JATs on priority bases and taking humanitarian approach towards the most ignored lot of society struggling for justice since Independence.
