9/23/2020 12:00:50 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 22: Jammu Diary has congratulated the Dogras and the nationalist people in Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Maharaja Hari Singh’s Jayanti on 23rd September . Terming the maharaja as the most progressive ruler who was committed to equitable justice of his subjects and played a pivotal role in the Round Table Conference in London to call the bluff of the British imperialists and upheld the unity of India, Jammu Diary has demanded a gazetted holiday in the honour of the nationalist Maharaja.
While paying the rich tributes to His Highness Maharaja Hari Singh, Dr Mahesh Kaul, General Secretary, Jammu Diary said, “Maharaja Hari Singh was a patriot and he was well ahead of times and brought the most revolutionary reforms in the society and developed the system based on equitable justice for all sections of the society.
Neha Sharma, Secretary, Jammu Diary while upholding the demand for holiday on Maharaja’s Birthday said, “Maharaja Hari Singh was way ahead of his times and was concerned about his subjects. When women rights and education were considered taboo in other princely states .It was Maharaja who introduced the colleges and centres for the education and skills training for the girls and women of Jammu and Kashmir with active support of his wife Maharani Tara Devi. So to declare public holiday in his honour is overdue.”
Ashish Kohli, Joint Secretary, Jammu Diary said, “Maharaja Hari Singh was an educated and visionary ruler who believed in upgrading the all types of infrastructures for his subjects. And his decisions have stood the test of the time and many landmarks and public spaces developed by him are still standing tall and speak of his concern for the people of J&K.”
