COVID-19 norms violated: Gym inaugurated amid police presence
9/23/2020 12:04:26 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 22: Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed the common masses as well as responsible quarters not to lower guard against increasing rate of COVID-19 infections but ignoring all such appeals, a gym was inaugurated in Billawar tehsil some police officials were also present on the occasion but all protocols were totally violated.
Photographs that were circulated on social media depict a gym in the Mandli area of tehsil Billawar was inaugurated on Monday during which two senior police officials showed their presence.
Though presence of police personnel was not questionable but the flouting of all COVID-19 protocols was the talk of town as everyone who attended the event were without face masks and social distancing norms were violated openly.
A body builder from Jammu was also invited for the event, who inaugurated the event in presence of two police officers including a Deputy Superintendent of Police as well as an Inspector, sources said.
“Police personnel, who have been entrusted to execute the health advisories among the common public were found openly violating the protocols,” they added.
“It appears as if there is no infection and danger of COVID-19 infections has already disappeared. Such behaviour from police officials is highly questionable. If a common man indulges in such an act, his behaviour can be ignored but not of the police officials, that too at a time, when infections as well as fatality rate due to COVID-19 have been sharply increasing in Jammu province”, an official said.
The official further said that even the Prime Minister has been repeatedly asking the common masses, not to lower the guard in view of huge increase in the number of infections as well as deaths but even the responsible quarters have been openly ignoring the directions of the PM, which was highly questionable.
“Fines are imposed on common people for violating the COVID-19 norms same action must be initiated against these police officials, who are at responsible positions”, an official said, adding that the situation in Jammu province has been deteriorating and such irresponsible attitude of the people at the helm can lead to a catastrophe.
