NIA carries out raids in Baramulla

BARAMULLA, Sept 22: The National Investigation Agency conducted fresh raids on Tuesday morning in various parts of this north Kashmir district.
According to sources, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths that were accompanied by paramilitary CRPF and Police carried searches at various places of Baramulla district on Tuesday morning. The search were carried out in the house of Ghulam Rasool Waza of Palhalan Pattan, Tariq Ahmad ex sarpanch who was arrested last year by police in drug peddling case and two other locations in the district that include Shaheen Lone of Kanispora Chinad and BJP Mohilla leader Haleema in Boniyar and Baramulla. Sources told ET that the government quarter that has been allotted to BJP Mahilla leader in Khowjabagh Sheerwani colony was also raided by NIA sleuths.
Sources said that there was no immediate report or confirmation from the officials about the seizure of any documents or any suspicious thing from the investigating agency like NIA that carried raids on Tuesday morning at various places in this north Kashmir district.
The NIA carried out searches at five places in Baramulla district in connection with a case related to arrest DySP of JK Police, the sleuths of investigating team swooped on these locations in the early morning of Tuesday, sources informed.
They said that many times in the past, several leaders of Hurriyat Conference, Business leaders were raided by the NIA, as they had got information about the involvement of these activists into the alleged terror funding cases.
It is pertinent to mention here that, a senior police officer of DySP rank was arrested along with two militants whom he was ferrying in a car in Kashmir valley in January and since then the security agencies had carried out multiple raids at many places.
