Uncle, Aunt shame humanity, burn 8 year old child with hot iron

JAMMU, Sept 23: In an incident that shamed the humanity, the paternal uncle and his wife burnt 8 year old child belonging to a poor family of Warwan, a remote Tehsil of Kishtwar District.
As per the details available with Early Times, one child (name withheld) who is hailing from Warwan Kishtwar and presently at Seri Anantnag is rescued by District Protection Office Anantnag who was brutally beaten and burnt by his relatives (Paternal Uncle ) namely Ashraf.
After Early Times took up the matter with ICPS department after seeing the video of the minor boy speaking about the atrocities committed on him by his uncle and his wife, Child Protection Officer Kishtwar Touseef Iqbal Butt told the Early Times, that the video was circulating in social media and Kishtwar media also raised the matter, adding that the issue was immediately taken up with Anantnag counterparts who reached out to the victim boy. Butt informed that the child was immediately produced before the Child Welfare Committee by the officers of DCPU ICPS Anantnag as the incident happened in their jurisdiction.
“The boy is with Child Welfare Committee Anantnag- Police has also taken the cognisance of the matter by registering an FIR at police Station Mattan and we have been informed that the culprits had been detained by the police” said Butt.
He said they are also following the case under the guidance of District Child Protection Officer Kishtwar Tariq Parvez Qazi.
He also informed that after FIR under relevant act was registered in Police Station Mattan, further investigation is under way added that even UNICEF has shown interest in the welfare of the child by offering free education for him.
It is pertinent to mention that the issue come to fore after a neighbor saw the child in distress and on inquiry the child narrated the agonizing tale.
Child told him that he was subjected to torture by his uncle and his wife, who burnt his face, back, legs, buttocks and were later kept inside the house for several days so that the burnt mark disappear from his body.
