9/24/2020 11:07:21 PM
JAMMU, Sept 24: Alleging that the government machinery is turning blind eye towards the open loot of natural resources, the National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) J&K said that the menace of illegal mining is flourishing under the nose of officials in Nagrota along with the areas around river Tawi at Jagti, Panj Graian and few other locations . NDPI, J&K UT president, Rajesh Gupta in a statement issued here on Thursday urged the Lieutenant Governor to intervene so that natural wealth and state exchequer worth in crores is saved from the hands of erring elements. Locals feel cheated, as they have already raised voice at various platforms but none of use. Gupta demanded a high-level committee should be constituted so that elements involved in illicit trade are punished suitably.
Gupta said, it is not only the illegal mining which is going on in Nagrota, a number of illegal stone crushers could be seen operating in Jagti, Ban, Nagrota and other areas in Jammu in violation of the rules and regulations.
Gupta said, despite clear cut directions from the government as well as the courts with regard to blanket ban on mining viz extraction of stones, sand, mud and other raw material.
