KVK organises Online training programme on agri-entrepreneurship development

Reasi, Sept 24: Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu(SKUAST-J) organised online training programme today on 24-9-2020 entitled as “ Agri-entrepreneurship development in rural areas” which was enthuastically attended by a number of farmers of both Udhampur and Reasi Districts. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Incharge, Sr. Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi initiated the programme with the warm welcome of the farmers. He gave a detail view on agri-entrepreneurship and said the farmers that they should divert themselves from the subsistence agriculture to commercial agriculture so that their income can be enhanced. He narrated that by agri-entrepreneurship development farmers can increase their income and employment. He informed the farmers that they can grow the cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, marigold, mushroom, beekeeping, aromatic and medicinal plants etc. at commercial level by using the new technologies. He said the farmers that by commercial agriculture they can raise their socio-economic status. He further added that hilly areas have immense potential in organic fruits and vegetables. He said the farmers that in places like Katra organic fruits and vegetables cultivation have enormous scope and farmers can fetch more prices by growing the organic fruits and vegetables. He highlighted the eco-friendly agricultural technologies for sustainable agriculture. He stressed on Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) and added that farmers can sale their produce in bulk and can overcome the problem of marketing. He also elaborated the scientific cultivation of organic vegetables, wheat, pulses and oilseeds, aromatic and medicinal plants etc. He narrated that focus should be given on the eco-friendly formulations which can be easily formulated in the villages. He recommended certain biofungicides and biopesticides for the management of insect-pests and diseases.
