Nasha Mukt Bharat : Awareness event held at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Sept 24: District Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS) today organised an awareness programme regarding Nasha Mukt Bharat, here at NGO run Child Care Institution namely Alfalah Manzil Bandrina Kishtwar.
District Social Welfare Officer who is also a District Child Protection Officer- ICPS, Tariq Parvez Qazi on the occasion said that the need of the hour is to work with a collective approach to get rid of the drug menace.
“In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Directorate of Social Welfare launched ‘Nasha-Mukt Bharat’- Drug free India campaign of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India today with an aim to curb the menace of Drug addiction in the society”, he informed.
He informed that unfortunately in India 272 districts have been identified as drug prone in which Kishtwar is one of them besides other 7 districts of Jammu and Kashmir Union territory. He said that ‘we should work together to weed out this menace from the society.
He called for launching an intensive mass campaign by educational and health institutions, NGOs, Religious organizations and at individual level to spread awareness about the hazards of drug abuse.
During the programme, the inmates of Alfalah Manzil, Ashiana Boys Hostel (Orphanage) NGO run Child Care Institutions participated and presented speeches and skits about the menace of drug abuse.
Protection Officer (NIC), DCPU ICPS Kishtwar, Touseef Iqbal Butt, Legal Cum Probationary Officer, Basharat Nazir, Social Workers including Meenakshi Sharma, Saima Kousar and Accountant Amit Gupta were present on the occasion.
