JAMMU, Sep 25: Jammu Doctors Forum (JDF) has appreciated the keen interest shown by the government for taking the initiative to improve the general conditions, particularly the COVID-19 infested hospitals in Government Medical College Jammu. In a statement issued here today, president JDF, Dr Satya Dev Gupta and general secretary JDF, Dr Dushyant Chowdhury said that for a very long time, the health institutions in Jammu have been neglected by the Kashmir centric government. The plight of the hospitals in Jammu is not an overnight phenomenon, but it took decades, and the long term constantly ignoring the health institutions in Jammu resulted in the present situation. All are agreed the medicare servicwes are not up to mark in the Jammu division. The healthcare institutions are lesser than that of Kashmir Valley. The sanctioned staff posts have not been filled even in the premier institute like GMC Jammu where only 2500 has been working against the sanction of 4500 paramedics post, similarly, the faculty of GMC has about 350 sanctioned strength while only 200 are working where 150 posts are yet to be filled. The public wants excellent medicare which seems to be in remote with this deficient staff. What did the government do until now? It is easy to blame the doctors and paramedics who are selflessly working in this most difficult situation and also fell prey to the COVID-19 demon. It may be added that in this war-like situation authorities and medical fertility are ought to work side by side in a progressive manner to be at its best and must follow the directions and regulations formulated by the government as and when required. Jammu Doctors Form appeals to the personnel at the helm to take the medical experts into confidence and chart-out a comprehensive plan to utilize and take full use of the ventilators and other equipment in medical college and periphery.
