HANDWARA, Sept 25: Citing non-cooperation from government departments, Block Development Council Handwara tendered mass resignation.
Members of BDC Handwara expressed displeasure over no development in their wards and signed a joint letter of resignation which however is yet to be submitted before concerned authority.
“On 24th of September an important meeting of Block Council Handwara under the Chairmanship of BDC Handwara Firdous Ahmed Sofi in which the members of the council expressed their displeasure and dissatisfaction over the functioning of the line departments,” reads the letter.
“Since the Council has shown their satisfaction umpteen times but to no avail. So the council has unanimously decided to tender their resignation,” reads the letter further.
Members of the BDC said that they were compelled to tender resignation due to indifferent attitude of administration towards public grievances and demands of the people.
“When govt has failed to empower already existing members, then how govt has decided to go for fresh elections on vacant Panchayat seats,” they said.
