Lamberi residents rue over power cuts , water scarcity | | | Early Times Report
NOWSHERA, Sept 25: Panchs and Sarpanchs of Lamberi Lower block of Teshil Nowshera staged protest against power cuts and potable water supply. Led by Noval Sharma, the elected Panchs and Sarpanchs assembled near Lamberi Lower village and raised slogans against the government for not showing its serious concern towards their issues. The protestors, while raising slogans in support of their demands, said that the administration is totally irresponsible as it has deprived the local people of basic facilities like electricity and, water. The people in the area are without power and water supply for the last more than 15 days, they added. Noval Sharma said that the low voltage and power cuts are going on unabated and the people face long duration power cuts as routine and there is no schedule cut. “The inhabitants of the area had been reeling under frequent power cuts and water shortage but the government is in a deep slumber. It's a matter of life and death. The water and power shortage has affected the women, the elderly and the poor the most, Sharma said. Sharma appealed to the Lt Governor to intervene into matter so that the aforesaid issued would be resolved in a time bound and the common masses would get a sigh of relief. Prominent among those who joined the protest include Sarpanch Vijay Kumar, Sarpanch Kishori Dutt, Sarpanch Pishori Lal, Sarpanch Suraj Parkash. |
