‘Medicos at CD Hospital Jammu ignoring COVID patients’
No one came forward to administer injection till I called MS, claims health official

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 26: In yet another instance of COVID-19 patients being treated as “untouchables,” an official who has tested positive for the deadly virus—on Saturday claimed that no one was willing to inject him.
He said that despite repeated phone calls to on duty staff, including doctors, between 2:30 pm to 5 pm no one came to give him an injection.
A senior official posted and admitted at CD Hospital Jammu alleged that recent suspension of a senior doctor and engineer was mere eyewash. “Reality is something beyond what is being projected by the government and the Health Department, as per doctor’s prescription an injection was to be administered on me by 2:30 pm this afternoon, after the deadline I repeatedly tried to contact concerned staff, they picked up my phone call but didn’t enter the ward till 6 pm,” the angry health official said, “I am their senior colleague. They are least bothered about me. One can imagine the plight of common patients,” the employee told Early Times.
According to the COVID protocol in each ward, staff should remain present to tackle any emergency. Not only paramedic staff but a senior doctor should also be available in each isolation ward to take care of patients, especially sick ones. “It’s unfortunate that patients have been left to fend on their own in these wards,” the patient said.
He said that as no one responded then he had to talk to the Medical Superintendent to get the injection administered. “Higher authorities should fix the responsibility of staff on duty to avoid such chaos and cruelty with the COVID patients,” he added.
