People with Metabolic syndrome at high risk in COVID-19 recovery: TMF | | | Early times Report
Jammu, Sept 26: Peoples with metabolic syndromes viz Hypertension, Diabetes, fat around belly if detected coronavirus positive may be exposed to high risks to Covid-19 infections and might take longer times for it’s recovery process as is revealed by Chairman Team Mask Force in the opinion of experts after research. He was referring the same to media in a press release here this afternoon. Peoples with metabolic syndrome are at increased risk of heart disease, stroke and type-2 diabetes. Managing diabetes amidst coronavirus,is extremely important and can save lives. Dr.Ravi Doshi, who heads the chest Department of Indore-based Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical sciences (SAIMS), says that at least 150 of over 1000 Covid-19 patients he’s come across so far had metabolic syndrome. According to Dr. Doshi, there are many complications that are caused by coronavirus and if someone has metabolic syndrome then those complications multiply by many folds. Indian Institute of Management(IIM-I) has undertaken a detailed study with the University of Michigan and the Columbia University of America on the relationship between Covid-19 and metabolic syndrome. Sharma appealed public to hv regular life styles changes and diet control vis a vis balanced diet to keep control of the same.
