Youth Congress holds protest against anti-farmer law
9/27/2020 11:20:58 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 27: J&K Pradesh Youth Congress staged a protest at Miran Sahib against the farm bills passed in the parliament by BJP.
Dozens of farmers and youth leaders marked their presence by raising slogans against the central dispensation and termed the farmer law as black law for entire community.
The protest was led by J&K Pradesh Youth Congress, Secretaries Ankush Raina, Arjun Sharma and Nakul Sharma.
While showing resentment over the bill passed by BJP led government, Ankush Raina, Secretary, JKPYC said that these laws are going to cause the collapse of the system of selling farm products in market yards. Because of the interference of the centre, the states have to lose their constitutional right of agricultural markets which is under the state list.
He further added that “these bills have has pushed the farmers into a critical situation.
If the ordinance had been in favour of the farmers the government would have discussed and revealed the contents of the bill to the nation.
These Acts will mean complete withdrawal of the Government from procurement and put farmers at the mercy of corporate companies. It is aimed to facilitate profiteering by big players like Adani Wilmar, Reliance, Walmart, Birla, ITC etc.
While addressing the protest demonstration, Secretary, JKPYC, Arjun Sharma said that these anti-farmer bills are meant to restructure our country’s agricultural economy in favour of big landlord corporate-traders nexus and the bills are made with intention to help the corporate agri-businesses at the cost of poor farmer’s hard work.
“The three legislations are intended to finish off the APMC Mandis, Government’s role in procurement at MSP, allow corporates the freedom for hoarding, black-marketing and promote contract farming by corporate agribusinesses”, he said.
Sharma further added that there is no mandi established either at district or provisional level of UT of Jammu and Kashmir and FCI in collaboration with other concern departments used to setup temporary auction system because of which farmers are left with very less profit and urged upon the central dispensation to establish permanent mandis with profitable benifits to the farmers instead of introducing black laws in the parliament.
Prominent among those who joined and addressed the protest were Kishan Lal Sr. Congress leader, Latish Sharma, Secretary JKPYC, Choudhary Sanjay, Jatinder Bhagat, Sahil Singh, Rocky Choudhary, Ankush Sharma, Vicky Sharma Akhilesh Sharma, Atul Raina, Vivasvan Sawhney, Mandeep Singh, Atul Bhargav, Puneet Raina.
