EARLY TIMES REPORT
KISHTWAR, Sept 27: After Early Times carried a series of news stories on continuous closure of Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag National Highway, the District Administration Kishtwar today issued directions for opening the road for medical emergencies and travelling of employees.
The administration has removed restrictions on all types of emergencies including medical or otherwise, transportation of essential commodities and travelling of employees from Marwah and Warwan Tehsils.
The opening of Kishtwar-Sinthan road will minimize the problems being faced by the people of far-flung areas of Kishtwar District while tackling medical emergencies.
It is in place to mention here that the administration was compelled to order the opening of road following a massive uproar by the general public after the death of two sisters in an accident at Qazigund who were denied ambulance service to Srinagar.
The administration finally issued the orders for opening of Sinthan road; nearly after 5 months since it was cleared after winter blockade.
Speaking to Early Times, In Charge Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik confirmed the opening of Sinthan road and added that all medical emergencies, government employees will be allowed to travel through this road subjected to the permission granted by the administration. He said that people having some emergency nature work will also be allowed to travel via Sinthan road, adding that essential services will too be allowed.
In a question on allowing general public to travel through Sinthan road, I/C DC Kishtwar said that the first priority is to allow medical emergencies and government employees after that they will review the situation in next few days and accordingly the final decision with regard to allowing all types of traveling via Sinthan road will be decided accordingly.
