Early Times Report

Udahmpur, Sept 28: A delegation of activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) comprised of ABVP State Joint Secretary Avinash Sethi, District Convenor Rahul Sharma, City Secretary Hardeep Jamwal and City Joint Secretary Gagan Sharma met Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla(IAS) regarding the issue of ITI students. Addressing the media persons, ABVP City Secretary Hardeep Jamwal said that Jammu Kashmir Board Of Technical Education(JKBOTE) has not issued the examination datesheet for ITI students till today. Usually, these exams were supposed to be conducted in the month of August but due to COVID-19 Pandemic (JKBOTE) could not conduct these exams for ITI students. But on the other side, JKBOTE has issued a notification vide No.: SBOTE/LE-Adm/20/1451-57 dated 21/09/2020 for admissions under Lateral Entry System in 3rd Semester in Govt./Priv. Polytechnic of J&K. There are a lot of students of ITI who have completed their one year/two year courses(under NCVT/SCVT) due to delay in conducting their final exams, they are unable to take admission in further higher courses under Lateral Entry System and so their precious one year is going to be wasted and their future is at stake. A memorandum of demands of ITI Students signed by District Convenor of ABVP Udhampur is also submitted to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur. ABVP State Joint Secretary Avinash Sethi requested DC Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla to talk with authorities of J&K Board of Technical Education(JKBOTE) regarding this issue and immediate action. DC Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla assured that he will immediately talk to Director, JKBOTE and discuss the issue so that students of ITI Udhampur could not suffer more due to delay in exams. Hardeep said that ABVP demands that the final exams of ITI students must be conducted as soon as possible following all required SOPs. However, the mode of exam may be Online/Offline(Pen & Paper) or Blended(online+offline) following the guidelines issued by MHRD. ABVP also demands that the last date for application form of admission in lateral entry system must be extended till announcement of exams result of ITI students. Hardeep assured the students of ITI Udhampur that ABVP is committed to fight and struggle for them till their issue is not solved.
