Early Times Report

REASI, Sept 28: Despite a ban on excavation of agricultural land a ‘powerful’ man in a village in this district of Jammu & Kashmir is excavating agriculture land and then uses the same for preparation of bricks at his brick kiln.
Sources told Early Times that the ‘powerful’ man who influences the district administration uses the agriculture land for preparation of bricks at the brick kiln. The ‘influential’ man belongs to the ward number 1 of Dudwah village in Latter Panchayat. The village is located 15 kilometers away from Pouni tehsil of this district.
“The powerful man has clandestinely got the permission to excavate the agriculture land and then use the same for making bricks.
He has employed many JCBs and tractors to excavate the agriculture land from the different fields and then transport the same to the brick kiln located some distance away,” said sources.
The sources said that the locals had informed the concerned Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and other officers of district administration about the illegal excavation of agriculture land in their village. They said that no action has been taken so far adding that this is enough to prove that the administration is ‘hand in glove’ with the ‘violator’ of law.
A senior officer on the condition of anonymity told Early Times that district administration would not hesitate to take action against the powerful man. The officer said that anybody who has the proof in this regard should forward the same to officials of district administration for speedy action.
