All Department Casual Labours United Front holds protest, demands regularization
9/29/2020 11:41:05 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 29: All Department Casual Labours United Front Jammu Province under the leadership of president of all departments held a peaceful protest here today in front of the office of the Chief Engineer, PW(R&B) Department, Rail Head Complex,
Protesting Casual Labours/Need based employees demanded immediate regularization of their services. During the protest all SOPs were followed including maintenance of social distancing and wearing masks.
Protesters said that the Government of J&K UT is well apprised of the fact that a large number of workers, say about 60,000, have been engaged from time to time during last over 25 years in different departments like PHE, PDD, PWD (R&B), Agriculture Department, Estates Department, Floriculture Department, PMGSY and others for smooth functioning of the government work. The workers have all along been representing to the government for their regularization but in turn the authorities at the helm of affairs continued to cause delay in delivery of justice by constituting committees on committees with no desirable result. Now the J&K UT Government is likely to recruit about 50,000 employees in different categories including 10,000 in class IV cadre by direct recruitment. Protesters further said that we are need based workers serving in the different department for last more than 25 years but till date our services have not been regularized, adding that if government is going to recruit Class-IV employees it’s a good initiative but before that our services should be regularized. The prominent activists who addressed the protesting employees include Shivdarshan Singh Jamwal, Sunil Satoo, Yogesh Singh, Ganesh Lal, Ravinder Singh, Rajit Sharma, Rafiq Mohd and others.
