JMC distributes dustbins in Ward Nos 29, 33

JAMMU, Sept 29: With a view to maintain better sanitation and hygiene in the markets and also to stop disposal of garbage on roads, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) distributed dustbins to the shopkeepers of Ward Numbers 29 and 33 (Shakti Nagar/ Shiv Nagar Road). The dustbins were distributed by Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, JMC in presence of Avny Lavasa, Commissioner and Tinna Mahajan, Secretary, JMC. On the occasion, Mayor JMC appealed to the owners of shopkeepers and other businessman establishment owners to handover the waste only to designated vehicles which have been kept exclusively for this purpose. The Commissioner, JMC also spoke on the occasion and make people aware of the fine and penalties to be imposed on defaulters and violators as per Solid Waste Management bye-laws for littering and open dumping of garbage including (C&D) waste etc. The amount of fines and penalties for different violators and defaulters has already been notified by JMC through electronic and print media. The Coorporator of Ward No 29 appreciated the efforts of JMC for providing dustbins to shopkeepers of the area and also for maintaining sanitation as well as providing other civic amenities in their respective areas.
The Commissioner appealed the general public to come forward and join hands with Jammu Municipal Corporation so that the aim of Swachh Bharat can be achieved and assured the citizens of the city that no stone shall remain unturned in providing better sanitation facilities.
