Cardiologists of GMC Jammu organize Walkathon on World Heart Day

JAMMU, Sept 29: Confusion, Chaos and COVID seems synonymous in present context and eventually lead to stressful conditions around thereby inviting numerous associated ailments and adding to the already alarming morbidity and mortality graph, said Dr Sushil Sharma at the outset of inaugurating walkathon on the World Heart Day.
He, however, revealed that nothing is more powerful than human resolve which can be ascertained with the Jammuites pledge to participate in the walkathon as well as by the huge response received with participation from all the sections of society while maintaining social distancing norms. He further informed that the impact of this campaign is evident by the fact that it got support from cardiologists from C-3 Interventional Academy, Orlando, USA.
This Walkathon was organized with reference to the World Heart Day, so as to make people aware how to keep a healthy heart so as to avoid the morbidity and mortality particularly in times of COVID when already we have suffered millions of deaths worldwide. This year the theme was Use your heart to beat cardiovascular diseases, and all the participants were made aware to use their head, influence and compassion to beat the cardiovascular diseases. Walkathon was started from Bikram Chowk and culminated at Superspeciality Hospital, Jammu. At the outset Dr Mohan Lal and Dr Arvind Kohli informed the participants as how to stay healthy and how to prevent any complications in patients who already have cardiovascular disease.
Among the prominent dignitaries who attended the event included Justice Sanjeev Kumar (High Court, J&K), Chander Mohan Gupta (Mayor, Jammu City) and Mukesh Singh (IGP, Jammu).
