FPOs will empower, increases farmers’ income: PMJKYPA

JAMMU, Sept 29: Tarsem Singh Manhas, J&K Convenor of Prime Minister Jan Kalyankari Yojana Prasar Abhiyan (PMJKYPA) said that the decision of Union Government of opening of 10,000 new farmer producer organisations (FPOs) across the country in the next five years will play a vital role in increasing the income of the farmers and to empower them.
In this connection, a convention was held at Block Marh under the chairmanship of Tarsem Singh Manhas in which Kulbhushan, President of Block Marh along with all his officials joined this campaign. The campaign has been initiated under the guidance and call of Pusheesh Arya, National Media In-Charge and Shailendra Vijayvargiya, In-charge of Jammu and Kashmir UT.
Speaking on the occasion, Manhas said that a new FPO will be set up to increase the income of the farmers and to empower them. This will enable the farmers to market and process the crops along with producing them. He informed that an amount of Rs 5,000 crore will be spent on this campaign for the next five years.
Manhas also threw light on major schemes launched by the Prime Minister for public welfare including Mudra Yojana, Kisan Credit Card Scheme, Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme, Street Vendor Yojana, Rehdi-Phadi, Milk, Vegetable ones, etc. He expressed resentment that the needy and the general public are not getting the benefit of the schemes released by the central government. Rinku Sharma, an officer of the Agriculture Department also informed the farmers about agricultural production and schemes.
Surinder Kumar, Chairman, Block Development Council also discussed development and presented a vote of thanks.
The event will be attended by State Vice President Rahul Sharma, BDC Chairman Surinder Kumar, Agriculture Department Rinku Sharma, Nayav Sarpanch Chanchal, Panch Ram Dayal, Block President Kulbhushan Singh, Block General Secretary Ajay Sharma, Block General Secretary Vikrant Singh, Block Vice President Rahul Sharma, Sandeep Chaudhary, Nirmal Singh, Ujjwal Sharma, and his newly appointed office bearers.
