JAMMU, Sept 30: Amid rising corona-virus cases in Jammu, Government Medical College and Hospital administration has set up adequate health infrastructure and health facilities for COVID-19 management in the Jammu region.
In a statement issued today, Dr Amit Kumar, President of Residents Doctors Association (RDA), Jammu, informed that the hospital administration and resident doctors under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Principal GMC&H are doing their best to cater the Corona patients including the patients hailing from other districts of Jammu division. Besides taking routine rounds in the hospital to check and watch out the functioning of the hospital, the GMC Principal has been constantly working to provide the best healthcare to the patients and making efforts to ensure best possible treatment to them, he added. As the coronavirus cases are on the rise in Jammu and Kashmir, the GMC administration has come up with a medical strategy to deal with the contagion. “Covid-19 patients are divided into categories according to their health condition, some don't require ventilator and get well only by medication while some have to be kept on ventilators,” he said, adding, “There is no dearth of oxygen cylinders and staff in the hospital and administration is fully prepared to tackle the situation. Many patients have recovered and are healthy now.” Dr. Akhil Gupta, General Secretary of RDA said, “Some patients have been shifted to other hospitals based on their medical condition and that too for their betterment. All the HOD's are ensuring the proper execution of the duties by each and every staff member from top to bottom.” “GMC&H administration is providing best healthcare facilities to resident patients, the hospital has been successfully catering the Covid-19 patient inflow from other districts of the division,” RDA members said and requested the people to cooperate with the GMC administration to combat spread of COVID -19. However, each HOD in the GMC Jammu as directed by the Principal is engaged in supervising and making sure the proper delivery of the duties by each and every staff member from doctors, nurses and sub staff. “Apart from the Coronavirus, the hospital administration is keen to provide adequate facilities to patients suffering from other ailments, as being a territory hospital GMC has to deal with other patients also,” they said. “GMC&H administration has made adequate arrangements for the patients suffering from COVID-19 while refuting the rumours about negligence of doctors and death of patients due to the lack of health infrastructure,” Dr Mukhtyar Khan, Secretary and Spokesperson of RDA said, adding that all the employees under the instructions of Health Ministry are working round the clock to tackle the pandemic. Dr Mukhtyar Khan lauded the efforts of Principal GMC&H who being the Head of the Institution is working dedicatedly to serve the patients flow at the best of his capacity amidst rising Coronavirus cases in Jammu region.
