Farms Bills: DCC Rural flays Modi Govt for exploiting farmers
10/1/2020 12:41:32 AM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 30: District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Rural expressed resentment over the passing of three farmers-related bills in the Lok Sabha, alleging that the BJP led Government at the Centre will give "freedom" to corporates to brutally exploit the farmers and take away the protection that the Minimum Support Price provides.
In this connection, a protest was organised against passing of anti farmers Bill's by Modi Govt at Dumi in Raipur Domana Constituency. The protest was arranged by Jung Bahuder Sharma, Working Block President Bhalwal which was attended by Hari Singh Chib, President DCC Jammu Rural, Uday Bhanu Chib President IYC J&K, Rana Partap Singh, Sarpanch Gharota, Kulbushan Singh, Baber Ali General Secretary Youth Congress Jammu Rural and Sunny Jatt President Youth Congress Raipur Domana.
Addressing the gathering, Hari Singh termed the passing of Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 as deadly attack on farmers and agricultural labourers.
Chib lambasted the BJP led Government at the Centre for its failure to double the farmers income and said that the rather than doubling the farmer’s income, the current regime is hell-bent to snatch the existing source from the farmers. Uday Chib said that Modi government has badly failed to fulfill its promises made to the farmers of the nation,” adding that the farmers in J&K have been lurched under finances and loans lend from Banks due to crop production loss, disasters and lockdown among others factors.
Uday said that these farm bills are not acceptable by Congress Party and the government must ‘declare in writing’ the MSP of farmers’ produce prior to handling over to these corporate houses and repeal the twin anti-farmers Bills.
Jung Bahuder Sharma, Working Block President Bhalwal said that already suffering farmers in J&K have been pushed to more devastation by the twin anti-farmers bills.
Among those who joined the protest included Dev Raj, Virender Mehta, Kamal Singh, Pritam Singh, Anil Sharma, Parshotam Singh, Naib Sarpach and Panches of Dumi and farmers of local area.
