Centre releases Rs 1 cr for establishment of AYUSH HWCs in J&K

JAMMU, Oct 1: The centre government has released Rs 1 crore for the establishment of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) under the centrally sponsored scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.
The release of funds comes days after the Union Minister for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik and Union Minister of State PMO Dr Jitendra Singh jointly launched the Post-Harvest Management Centre for Medicinal Plants at Bhaderwah as well as 21 AYUSH Health & Wellness Centres in Jammu and Kashmir
As per the order issued by Health & Medical Education Department which reads that sanction is hereby accorded to the release of Rs 1 crore as grant in aid released by the Ministry of Ayurveda Yoga and Naturopath, Urani Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) Govt. of India for the establishment of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers under the centrally sponsored scheme National AYUSH Mission and its placement at the disposal of Director Finance Health and Medical Education Department.
It added that advance drawl of One Crore only by Director Finance H&ME Department for its further placement with Director Indian systems of Medicine, Jammu and Kashmir for its utilization during the current financial year 2020-21.
The order further reads, “The department shall send the utilization certificate of the funds as early as possible and positively before 31-03-2021 to Govt. of India under intimation to this department”.
It added that Director Finance, H&ME Department shall vouchsafe the utilization of funds as per the codal procedure/government of India’s guidelines. Also the department shall incur expenditure strictly as per the guideline of the scheme and the conditions laid down in the sanction letter of the concerned ministry of government of India.
As per the government, “During the current year, in Jammu and Kashmir, work on establishing 194 AYUSH HWCs is going on and the Ministry of AYUSH has provided Rs 12.81 crore Central grant for this purpose. Also, there is a target of establishing 319 AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres in the next 3 years in the UT”.
