GCPF-J paid tributes to young martyrs of Anti-Mandal agitation

Jammu, Oct 1: General Category People’s Forum (GCPF-J) today paid floral tributes to the young martyrs (students) of Anti-Mandal agitation of 1990.
The programme was organized in a simple and impressive manner in which officials of the forum participated. The programme started with the citation of Gyatri Mantra by the participants under the guidance of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Forum.
Banathia said, the real and best tribute which could be paid to the Martyrs would be for the people to strive to ensure, equal rights and equal laws for all citizens without any discrimination, strengthening secular traditions and bonds of Communal harmony.
Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Forum, approached the Forum for bringing the historical agitation of 1990, once again into limelight by organizing 24 Sept as Martyr’s Day. This day has been organized for last two decades in the honour and memory of students – the young Martyrs who raised their voice against divisive and communal politics of then government.
Som Nath Sharma, Gen. Secretary, described the martyrs, the real epitome of courage and determination and commitment to awake people against injustice and inequality; discrimination and Vote-Bank politics. He said, it is our moral duty to carry on Martyr’s mission.
V.K. Sharma, Vice-President, while paying tributes to the Martyrs alleged that governments framed their policies keeping an eye on vote-bank. Some high officials are misusing their official positions and spreading casteism, mentioning – issuance of wine-shops licenses on the basis of castes under new excise policy of JKUT.
