With 692 new cases Jammu division bears brunt of fresh COVID-19 cases, recovery rate 77%

SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Jammu division of the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to bear the brunt of fresh Corona Virus cases with almost 700 cases being reported today. At the same time, the COVID-19 recovery rate is improving and the same reached almost 77 percent today.
In Jammu & Kashmir 1093 new cases of Corona Virus were reported today while as 17 more virus affected patients died in the past 24 hours. As on date the total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 76,163 with the total number of deaths being 1198.
Jammu district reported 490 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 164 cases, Budgam district 54 cases, Kishtwar district 49 cases, Baramulla and Rajouri districts 39 cases each, Bandipora district 34 cases, Kupwara and Ganderbal districts 27 cases each, Pulwama district 25 cases, Doda and Ramban districts 22 cases each, Udhampur and Samba districts 20 cases each, Anantnag and Kathua districts 16 cases each, Poonch district 14 cases, Kulgam district 13 cases and Shopian district two cases.
Jammu district reported eight fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by three deaths in Doda district, Budgam district two deaths and a death each in Pulwama, Anantnag, Poonch & Samba districts. Kashmir valley has so far reported 843 COVID-19 deaths with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 355.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,093 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 692 from Jammu division and 401 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 76,163. Also 17 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 13 from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 1,680 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,071 from Jammu Division and 609 from Kashmir Division. Out of 76,163 positive cases, 16,413 are active positive, 58,552 have recovered and 1198 have died; 355 in Jammu division and 843 in Kashmir division.
Out of 16, 43,722 test results available, 15, 67,559 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 5, 79,313 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 15,446 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 16,413 in isolation and 50,787 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 95,469 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 15,046 positive cases, 2,058 active positive, 12,696 recovered, 292 deaths; Budgam has 4,925 positive cases, 871 active positive, 3,970 recovered, 84 deaths; Baramulla has 4,427 positive cases, 1,332 active positive, 2,971 recovered, 124 deaths; Pulwama has 3,967 positive cases, 410 active positive, 3,488 recovered, 69 deaths; Kupwara has 3,640 positive cases, 741 active positive, 2,832 recovered, 67 deaths.
“Anantnag has 3,535 positive cases, 426 active positive, 3,043 recovered, 66 deaths; Bandipora has 3,434 positive cases, 428 Active Positive, 2,969 recovered, 37 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,918 positive cases, 326 active positive, 2,563 recovered, 29 deaths; Kulgam has 2,279 positive cases, 114 active positive, 2,122 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 2,029 positive cases, 157 active positive, 1,840 recovered, 32 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 13,505 positive cases, 3,390 active positive, 9,923 recovered, 192 deaths; Rajouri has 2,692 positive cases, 1,194 active positive, 1,466 recovered, 32 deaths; Udhampur has 2,273 positive cases, 549 active positive, 1,706 recovered, 18 deaths; Doda has 2,233 positive cases, 969 active positive, 1,233 recovered, 31 deaths; Kathua has 2,079 positive cases, 494 active positive, 1,563 recovered, 22 deaths.
“Poonch has 1,788 positive cases, 953 active positive, 819 recovered, 16 deaths; Samba has 1,782 positive cases, 761 active positive, 1,000 recovered, 21 deaths; Ramban has 1,357 positive cases, 247 active positive, 1100 recovered, 10 deaths; Kishtwar has 1,290 positive cases, 594 active positive, 689 recovered, seven deaths and Reasi has 964 positive cases, 399 active positive, 559 recovered, six deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 76,163 positive cases in J&K, 8,804 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
