Corona proved deadliest for Jammu province in September
272 deaths, 20,949 positive cases in last 30 days

Jammu, Oct 1: Coronavirus in the month of September has proved deadly and drastic for the residents of Jammu region as numbers of positive cases have jumped from 9022 to 29,971 during this month. Furthermore, the death toll has also increased from 70 to 342 in the same period of 30 days.
From March 9-when first case of Covid was detected in Jammu, to September 1, total positive cases in Jammu province were 9022 but this number increased to 29,971 on September 30, means during the last 30 days over 20,000 cases reported in Jammu province.
Situation in worst in Jammu district where the number of positive cases has swelled to 13015 on September 30 as on September 1, there were only 3409 positive cases.
From the period of March 9 to September 1, only 47 Coronavirus patients had lost their lives but in the September month along this number has jumped to 184 in Jammu district only which is a very alarming and dangerous trend.
Although last 10 days of the month of September had recorded some encourging trend as far as recoveries are concerned, death rate continued to worry the locals. Despite claims of the authorities Jammu region in general and Jammu district in particular witnessed manifold increase in death rate.
In the first 15 days of September month, the recovery rate dropped from 61 percent to dangerous 32 percent but it has shown some improvement during the last week of September.
Although authorities are claiming that the spike in the number of positive cases is the result of the rapid tests, the hike in death toll has created fear among residents.
On August 31, total positive cases in Jammu district were 3288 out of which 2035 were recovered and discharged from hospitals. Recovery rate on August 31 was over 61 percent with death toll 44.
