Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 9: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), J&K unit, paid tributes to its Founder leader Kanshi Ram on his death Anniversary in a function held at Party Head Office in Jammu today.
On the occasion, State President Somraj Magotra along with large number of party workers from all over the Jammu District paid tributes to the great social and revolutionary leader.
Describing life history of Kanshi Ram, Magotra said that Kanshi Ram was the only person after Dr Ambedkar who sacrificed his whole life to fight for the legitimate rights of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs and other minorities in India. Inspired by the ideology of Dr Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram floated a political party ‘BSP’ in 1984, he said.
Throwing light on the contribution of Kanshi Ram, Magotra said that he was deeply moved by the writings of Dr Ambedkar and he remained unmarried throughout his life. Expressing resentment over the Farm Bills, Majotra said that the BJP led Government at the Centre will give freedom to corporates to brutally exploit the farmers and take away the protection that the Minimum Support Price provides. He criticized the BJP Government for its failure to double the farmers income and said that the rather than doubling the farmer’s income, the current regime is hell-bent to snatch the existing source from the farmers.
Magotra also resented over the decision of BJP Government for empowering the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir administration to impose Property Tax through the Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees in their respective areas. He appealed to the Central Government to revoke such anti-people law as it is not the appropriate time to introduce such law as people are already facing a very crucial time. The BSP State President termed the Back to Village programme as a bogus idea and failure in its delivery of public services since none of the persons is benefited from it. He said this programme as a cheap publicity stunt as nothing would come out it as the promises made with people in the previous B2V programme are still not fulfilled. On the occasion, the participants pledged to follow the path shown by Kanshi Ram and strengthen the BSP in J&K. Among others who present included vice President Charanjeet chargotra State General Secretary Shashi Bhushan Thappa advocate, yashpal Bhagat expresident, Kuldeep Verma, District president Bharat Bhushan Kundal, Jagdish Verma etc.
