To defeat Covid-19, Govts must invest in health workforce: Vishal Khatri Sabha | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 9: Vishal Khatri Sabha on Friday hailed further relaxations under 5.0 unlock rules in J&K but maintained that it’s clearly impossible to eradicate Covid-19 without a vaccine, while underlining that the effort must remain on containing the spread of the deadly disease.“Only a vaccine can eradicate coronavirus and we don’t know when it shall come. But we must take the necessary precautions to contain it,” Vishal Khatri Sabha J&K President Devender Seth said. Seth further said that J&K Administration must follow the norms laid out by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). However Seth claimed that the situation in India is still under control and the mortality rate is less as compared to other countries.“Our climate, food habits, and immunity definitely have effects on the Covid-19 spread. We are safe and need not to worry,” he said. Reacting on the financial situation after lockdown, he said, we have to work hard on it. But, definitely, lives are important than it. In this regard, government has already given permission to continue their works in rural areas to protect its economy. As the COVID-19 pandemic persists in challenging global health services to the limit even further deepening existing manpower shortages, medical supply shortages among other issues in the health industry, Seth called for greater investment in the health workforce and greater promotion of access to healthcare by all. The health workforce is a critical and essential human capital. “We now realize that we must go beyond applause for the health workers. We must enable them, we must protect the health workforce, emotionally and physically and mentally. We must remunerate and pay allowances to health workers because they are crucial in helping the population and in addressing the pandemic,” Seth avowed. |
