JAMMU, Oct 17: The old Jammu City is presently grappling with the acute problem of not having proper and adequate space for parking of the vehicles, with the result, the vehicles are parked all along the road side, thus creating frequent traffic jams. The overall objective of the construction of car parking facility at Panjtirthi is to bring about decongestion of traffic in the adjoining area by reducing street parking. This will not only help in providing safe, secure and efficient vehicular circulation /passage but will also enhance public safety and security. Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation and Purnima Sharma, DyMayor, in the presence of Avny Lavasa Commissioner, JMC and Councilors as well as other officials today allowed the commencement of work of the construction of Ramp Based Multi-Level Parking at Panjtirthi, Jammu. The project cost is Rs 24 crore and the completion time is 18 months. The work has been allotted to M/s Vikas & Associates. The project shall have parking space for 258 cars and 136 two wheelers. There shall be eight levels of Parking including 2 basements, ground floor and 4 floors plus terrace parking.
