JKESL holds meeting, expresses concern over condition of State Archives

JAMMU, Oct 17: An Executive Committee meeting of the J&K Ex-Services League (ESL) held here today to pay tributes to Comrade Lt Col Dalip Singh Salaria, Honorary Treasurer, who passed away on September 19. Later, some decisions were taken after paying tributes to Salaria. President Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal explained that Covid is there to stay with us. He said we are working on certain programmes to enable you to work from your homes which will be explained during the upcoming Annual General Meeting on December 6 which will be held online through video conferencing. Air Cmdr Kamal Singh, Senior Vice President explained the possibilities of working from home which will be explained in the Annual General Meeting.
The president informed that as usual the J&K Ex-Services League will hold Annual function to pay homage to Brig Rajinder Singh on October 26 at 11 AM at Brig Rajinder Singh Chowk behind Civil Secretariat, Jammu.
He said that Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha has been requested to grace the occasion along with Senior Army Commanders. During the meet, the Veterans expressed concern over the present condition of the State Archives which house State Forces’ records (now the JAK Rifles). The President explained that he had requested the Army Commander also to intervene who has promised to do so. The members also planned to observe October 22 October as the Black Day as it was on this day Pakistan orchestrated illegal invasion.
Col Kulbir Jamwal, OIC Housing explained about the delay in providing plots to the soldiers and their widows due to the indifferent attitude of the government, and the court cases pending for years which we are now being expedited under the Lt Governor’s administration.
