Traffic Police Rural launches drive against violators in Rajouri, Poonch
Seizes 43 Vehicles, laid special stress on wearing crash helmets

JAMMU, Oct 17: To curb the menace of traffic violations and enforce new Motor Vehicle Act provisions, Traffic Police Rural Jammu today launched a special drive in Rajouri and Poonch districts against the traffic violators, particularly indulging in visible offences. The drive was launched under the supervision of Sr. Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural Jammu, Mohan Lal Kaith, along with Dy. SP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch, Mohd Zubair Mirza, and other subordinate traffic Police officers.
During the drive, 220 vehicles were challaned and fine to the tune of Rs.77,700 was imposed on the violators, as per the New Motor Vehicle Act. Moreover, 43 vehicles were also seized during the special drive and handed over to concerned Police Stations.
The SSP(Traffic) Rural Jammu has stressed upon the traffic cops to ensure proper discipline, accountability and transparency in traffic management system and deal with violators under the provisions of new Motor Vehicle Act.
The officers have been further directed to ensure wearing of body worn camera while challaning and lay special stress on the visible offences like overloading/driving without wearing seat belts and crash helmets; using mobile phone and resorting to over speeding etc.
The challaning officers shall also ensure the use of Noise Pollution Device while challaning the vehicles.
SSP (Traffic) Rural Jammu further stressed upon the motorists to keep all the documents of their respective vehicles along with and get the same checked at Traffic checking point/nakas.
He requested the owners of the vehicles, transporters and agents to extend their full co-operation to the traffic cops, so that a proper check over the violators is maintained.
He further said that the enforcement drive would be intensified in the coming days and the violators will be dealt strictly.
