Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 17: A middle-rung official from Kashmir, who was accused of irregularities including corruption and favoritism in Civil Secretariat is again lobbying for a key post.
Sources said the said official was last year transferred out of the Civil Secretariat following allegations of gross irregularities against him but now he has again started lobbying to get another key posting.
Sources said the official in question was accused of misusing his position in the last two years to unduly interfere in the working of the government for “vested interests”, particularly in the transfers done by the General Administration Department. “He knows the art and science of misusing his position and thus the Raj Bhawan must get the complaints against him verified,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the said official is using some political contacts to get back into the “decision making” in the Civil Secretariat.
Ironically, even though the said official was transferred on allegations of having been “party to transfer industry”, he wants to get chair in the department which decides about postings of senior officials.
Sources said the official was accused of misleading some top officials in Civil Secretariat about the conduct of other officials and thus had been interfering in the transfer policy in particular.
Sources said apart from “settling personal and political scores” with the officials in the civil administration, the said official had also been accused of getting some of the competent officials including those in police sidelined.
“Many of the competent police officials got sidelined because he would play some dirty politics,” said a senior police official on the condition of anonymity.
It was reliably learnt that the complaints against the said person had finally reached New Delhi following which the said official was sidelined from decision-making.
Now, however, he is again trying for the same.
Despite repeated attempts the said official was not available for comments.
But a senior official in the Civil Secretariat confirmed that the said official was lobbying for a lucrative posting.
A delegation of KAS and KPS officers appealed the Raj Bhawan to look into the matter.
