BJP leaders could not spare time to visit Martyrs’
Memorial outside GGM Science College

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 19: After becoming part of the power, BJP has brazenly started forgetting martyrs of Jammu region. After ignoring 2008 Amarnath land row martyrs, BJP leaders this year could not spare time from the busy schedule to pay tributes to the martyrs of GGM Science College.
Leaders of all Jammu based parties, except BJP, have visited the memorial site of the martyrs to pay tributes to the students who attained martyrdom during police firing in the year 1966.
Three students namely Brij Mohan, Subhash Chandra and Gulshan Handa were killed on GGM college premises on October 17, 1966 whereas a student leader, Gurcharan Singh, was killed on October 18, 1966, in Kanak Mandi, Jammu, when a students' procession was marching through the streets of Jammu.
Students were demanding establishment of Jammu University, technical education colleges, an ayurvedic college and upgrade of agricultural graduates on par with MBBS and engineering graduates.
Every year students of Jammu observe three-day fast at ‘Martyrs Memorial’ outside GGM Science College. Students observed ‘black days’ on October 16, 17 and 18 every year to recall atrocities of police on students of Jammu in the year 1966.
Earlier BJP leaders used to visit the Martyrs’ Memorial but this year party leaders could not spare time to visit the spot.
There is strong anger among students against the approach of BJP leaders who, according to them, were busy in befooling people.
