GDC Kalakote highlights schemes of HED at “MY TOWN MY PRIDE” Programme

KALAKOTE, Oct 19: Government Degree College Kalakote today highlighted various schemes offered by the Higher Education Department for the welfare of the college students, here at “My Town, My Pride” programme held here at sub division headquarter.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kalakote, Krishan Lal and Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr. Romesh Gupta briefed the participants about the various schemes that are being currently provided to the college students for their welfare and future studies.
The College Principal said that 42 students out of total strength of 161 students of GDC Kalakote have been enrolled for scholarship for Pahari Speaking People.
He further added, besides this scholarship, the college has set up a facilitation centre for Pradhan Mantri Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) and around 50 students were enrolled and verified at this facilitation Centre. There are many other scholarship schemes for ST, SC, OBC categories, he added.
While talking about the development of college, Dr. Romesh Gupta told that the college is on the way of progress. At present, the admission is being offered in Arts Stream with nine Departments of English, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, EVS, Economics, Education, Political Science and Sociology, he said adding that very soon Science stream would also be introduced in the college if the administration provides the college 10 (ten) more classrooms till the completion of the new building.
He further added that besides these academic Departments, college has also the NSS unit and Red Cross Club which are working very actively, while the Sports Department is organising various indoor and outdoor games for the physical and mental development of the students.
The ADC listened patiently and assured the Principal and management of the college of every possible help.NSS Programme of the college, Prof. Sachin Kumar Bhagat and other faculty members viz Prof. Sanjogita Kumari, Dr. Pinkey Rakwal, Prof. Shivani Thakur, Prof. Marvi Sofi and Dr. Mohd. Shakoor also attended the camp and discussed the development of college with Nodal Officers present at the venue.
