“My Town My Pride” programme witnesses overwhelming participation at Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, Oct 19: District Administration Kishtwar today organised “My Town My Pride” programme here which witnessed huge participation of the people.
The Visiting Officer, Commissioner/Secretary to Floriculture, Garden and Parks Department, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed presided over the programme and listened to the grievances of the Counsellors, prominent Citizens among others.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohd Hanief Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Parihar, President Municipal Council Riyaz Ahmed Zargar, Vice president Municipal Council Rinkoo Kotwal , EO Municipal Council Tariq Balwan besides the elected members of Urban local body, senior citizens and district officers were present on the occasion.
At the outset Commissioner/Secretary inspected the stalls put up by the various departments displaying their Schemes and achievements through leaflets, booklets, banners, posters etc.
During the inspection, the Commissioner Secretary also reviewed the department wise performance of the various schemes.
Stressing upon huge potential of Agriculture, Floriculture and Horticulture Sector in the district, he directed the district officers of these departments to work on mission mode basis for their growth for doubling the income of the farmers.
Later, in an interaction session, civil society members and the MC councillors apprised the Commissioner Secretary about the various problems of the town.
They demanded improvement of drainage system, augmentation of drinking water supply, beautification of the Chowgan Ground, expansion of municipal area, funds for the MC members for development of wards, creation of Employment opportunity in the town, besides other issues of infrastructure needs in education ,health and other sectors were highlighted .
After giving patient hearing, the Commissioner Secretary assured the projection of the demands and issues at the right forum with proper follow up for their redress in a time bound manner.
A Nukad Nattak on the theme Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was also presented by a group of students on the occasion.
Cheques/sanction letters of financial assistances under PMAY (U) ,KCC, housing loan etc were also distributed among the beneficiaries.
Driving licenses were also distributed among the applicants.
Earlier, the Commissioner Secretary also visited the Municipality Council Office Kishtwar and held a meeting with the elected members of municipal council. He reviewed the status of physical and financial position of Municipal Council.
